One of the world’s most popular day hikes can be found on New Zealand’s North Island: The Tongarinro-Alpine Crossing. What about the spectacular Alps? Paddle on a canoe trip to secluded caves where glow worms light the way. Get to know the landscape by bicycle or mountain bike on countless paths. Or would you rather embark on a diving trip, even if this is rather unusual for New Zealand? For experienced divers, the South Island coastline is paradise. Beautiful and not yet well known is a hike upstream between dramatic sandstone walls into a subtropical rainforest. So that it remains relatively unknown, we won’t reveal where it is either. A little tip: The Pororari River with its huge boulders and deep rock pools is the star of this trail. With so many opportunities for adventures, it’s easy to get out of breath.

Queen Charlotte Track
